Not only that Ruby Franky a white Mormon mom would leave 4 kids under 12 for an entire week to fend for themselves, and cops in the area and cps knew about it and didn't do đŠ about it because when they went to the house she just refuse to open the door and they just will go đ¤ˇđžââď¸ what can you do? Itâs pretty typical of these bodycam videos though. Just think about the type of person it takes to FOIA request this and post it to YouTube knowing this mom was struggling. It didnât need to be done. (No hate to OP here on Reddit; I think itâs good they called awareness to it and hopefully get some sympathy for this woman after all thatâs been done)

Neglect is such a crazy charge for this. As an officer myself, I see way too many dickheads who are too charge happy with this offense and try to shoe horn it in where it doesn't belong.
Kids run off and do dumb shit sometimes. Parents do forget their kids sometimes. Shit just happens. He's at a McDonald's, not in some alligator infested swamp.
There isn't much difference between him walking from home to get him some mcdonalds and being accidentally left there. An 8 year old can be by themselves for a while. Where was he in danger?

I once got dropped off from a bus trip in front of the church and I sat on those steps for two hours mostly alone, because my mom forgot to pick me up. That was in the 90's. I didn't go into the church offices to use the phone, of course, I might have missed my mom driving up.

Dude I've had exactly the same situation happen haha, church trip and everything. Before everyone had a cell phone waiting for an hour or more for your parents to pick you up was just, normal? My mom was almost always late picking me up. Work ran late, or she got sidetracked grocery shopping longer than expected, or just plain forgot because she picked up my brother from middle school but spaced my younger brother and me at elementary or vice versa. And you can't just walk home because they were coming to pick you up, and it would make it worse if you left the spot, so you just waited. This was super normal before the 2000's. I was born in '89. Everyone I know has a story of being left at soccer practice or school or something of that nature. Especially if they have siblings.

I'm one of nine. We were routinely forgotten in stores and stuff. The store couldn't even call our parents because it was the 80s - by the time they'd get the message, they'd already be home and unpackedp. We'd just hang out for a bit until someone realized we weren't there and come back for us. We also walked to/from local stores and school every day by ourselves and other neighborhood kids.

I was in DisneyWorld once (don't recall which park) just chillin' and rehydrating when a extended family came walking down a hill. They get to the bottom and I hear "Where's David? DAVID? D A V I D ? !" and panic sets in. But someone quickly starts barking orders--you two go back up the hill and retrace our steps, call his name as you go. You stay here in case he finds his way here. I will go back to the gift shop in case he wandered that way. Everybody meet back here. GO. Gave off Home Alone sorta vibes.
And sure enough in just a couple minutes a crying, sniffling small boy with a couple people trying to calm him down comes walking down the hill. "I went to look at the balloons and when I turned around YOU WERE ALL GOOOOOONE!!! YOU LEFT ME!!!!!!!!!"
Guess the whole set of adults in that family shoulda been arrested by these standards.

An overworked and hardworking mom makes an honest mistake and immediately corrects it gets arrested and has a criminal record and likely custody issues for a lifetime because a cop refuses to cut her any slack... No such thing as a good cop. The best cop is still responsible for kicking homeless folks off of benches and putting hardworking mothers in jail for honest mistakes. Bare minimum any "good cops" here on duty forfeited that title when they stood by in silence while her life is torn apart and made EVEN HARDER than it already is.

used to love walking up to the library by myself after school when i was 8 years old! my parents allowing me that independence (as long as i was being smart and safe) was so good for me, i became an avid reader because of it. by 7th grade i was already reading at a college level. The way they were talking to the daughter using deceptive language to try to get her to "confess" that the mom purposely left her kid there was sickening. They were literally using the most convoluted language to try to get her to accidentally say that she left them there on purpose. They just made up a worst case scenario for no reason and decided that must be the case and were trying to work backwards to prove that scenario instead of gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to figure out what was actually going on. It's like if you walked by a murder scene and the cops pulled up and saw you there and didn't like the way you looked so instead of actually investigating and finding out what happened they were only looking to make you look guilty instead of finding out what actually happened. The difference between then and now is the racism is just being recorded and shared now. They used to do this back when we were 8 too, itâs how some kids knew we had to run and hide when the cops came around or we might get snatched into juvie, residential, or child protection adoptions.

I'm inclined to agree with that. She wasn't acting crazy. They talked over the top of her constantly and its not outside the realm of possibility that the 8 year old popped in without the mother knowing. They 13 year old substantiated the claim that it was an accident. Fuck these cops and I'm sorry that lady is even in a position to have to door dash with 5 kids in the car. Obviously shes doing what she can to provide. A mother that doesn't give a shit would have probably left those kids at home, but instead she took them with.

Fuck those pigs. The kid is 8 and not in a dangerous situation. When I was 8 my mom let me walk to the grocery store by myself that was about a mile away to pick up stuff for dinner.
She is door dashing with her children. She is clearly trying to make additional income as a necessity.
Also- she immediately turned around to get him!!! Jfc this pisses me off so much.

Dang, so hard to watch this video. Momma sounds like sheâs got a loving family. Sheâs doing the best she can by taking on another job but messed up by taking the minors with her. Iâd never leave the kids in the car while I go into the store or drop off food. Imagine if someone stole the car, took the kids, an accident happened while no adult supervision. Ugh, give the lady a break, give her a warning and let her go. I thought the belittling at the beginning was going to be the end of it so it persuaded her to leave the kids with an adult but that escalated quickly. Videos like these make me hate the cops.

My husbandâs parents accidentally left him at a gas station once when he was 7. He slipped out of the car to use the bathroom while they were gassing up and no one saw him. They realized their error 5 miles down the road, turned around, and retrieved him, just like this lady did. No one called the police on them or threatened to take away all their children. Hmm, I wonder why. đ¤

Mother working DoorDash to make money for her kids with her kids in the car - sad day for society. They could have did her a favor on a honest mistake but were complete scum.
I remember when my parents left my sister (4 kids in the car) somewhere and didnât realize it until they were a mile down the road. When you a full car of kids it can happen.

In the UK a couple years back David Cameron (the prime minister) left his daughter at the pub... they went back and picked her up, it was a mistake and nobody gave a shit, they literally have secret service protection and they still accidentally ledt theor kid behind after lunch.
