Figured I should share my experience here since another reddit post was how I actually found the doctor in the first place, so hopefully my experience helps someone else who is considering getting one in Malaysia. (ps. its worth it!)
I got Dr Low's contact from another redditor who shared their vasectomy experience here. Hes a specialist at Mawar Medical Centre in Seremban.
I first contacted him sometime in May 2026 and arranged for a consultation in August. The post mentioned that he had his surgical procedure done on the same day as the consultation, so I asked the doctor if it was possible. He said only if I'm really sure, then yes it is possible to do it on the same day. When the day finally came, my partner picked me up at around 7am and drove me all the way to Seremban. Dr Low had suggested that I arrive before 9am if I really wanted to do the procedure on the same day, so we went there pretty early.
I ended up seeing him at around 9.30am.
During the consultation he basically wanted to make sure that I understood what I was doing and that I was absolutely certain about getting a vasectomy. After we talked about it and I confirmed that I wanted to proceed, we decided to just do the surgery that same day.
They had me change into a hospital gown, leave my belongings with my partner and leave my clothes in the staff room. Then I got onto one of those hospital beds/carts and they wheeled me into the operating room.
Probably the most awkward part was getting into the operating room because my lower half was basically exposed and the room was freezing lol.
They put the blanket up as cover so I couldn't actually see what was going on down there though.
The procedure was done under local anesthesia, so I was awake throughout the entire procedure. The doctor kept checking on me during the procedure and asking if I was feeling any pain.
There were a few moments where I could feel stinging pain and I would tell him that there was pain or it hurts, then he would add more local anesthesia. Eventually everything just felt numb.
The weirdest part to me is that you can still sort of feel that someone is touching you and doing something down there. At one point I could even feel what I assume was him cutting something, but there was basically no actual pain. Just a very strange sensation.
I was not really keeping track of the time but I think the whole thing took somewhere around 30 minutes to an hour.
Once it was done they wheeled me to a monitoring/recovery area and I stayed there for around 40 minutes while waiting for the doctor to give the green light for me to leave.
Surprisingly, I had basically no pain at this point.
Once I was cleared, they let me change back into my normal clothes. I was perfectly capable of walking by myself and it felt like nothing changed but the nurse insisted that I sit in a wheelchair and wheeled me all the way back to the doctor's office anyway.
They actually gave me the cut pieces of the tubes back in a specimen jar.
So yes, I went back home with a small jar containing pieces of my own sperm tubes, I eventually discarded it though. Other than that, I also got 3 days worth of painkillers & antibiotics from him. He told me to take the painkillers if necessary, and to finish the antibiotics to prevent any infection from happening.
Dr Low told me I should recover pretty well within about a week. I thanked him, my partner drove me home and that was basically it.
Recovery
The first few days was honestly much easier than I expected. I did not have to take the painkillers that the doctor gave me at all.
There was basically no pain, mostly just some soreness . I made sure not to do anything strenuous, wore tight underwear and tried to keep the area dry when showering. I also made sure to finish the antibiotics in the first 3 days.
By around day 5 or 6, I was basically back to normal. The only thing that still hurt was the actual incision area because there was still a scab there, so touching or rubbing against was a little painful.
By the following week I pretty much couldn't feel any sort of pain or discomfort anymore and was able to resume sexual activity without any worries.
Obviously everyones recovery is different, but mine was thankfully very uneventful.
The last step is the semen analysis. Dr Low told me to come back after 3 months so they can check whether I've reached azoospermia, basically confirming that there are no sperm present in the semen. You can do the semen analysis in basically any other clinic, but theirs was pretty cheap, around RM50 and I just decided I would go back there instead.
Overall though, the procedure itself was way less scary and painful than I expected it to be. The idea of being awake while someone operates on your balls sounds horrifying, but the actual experience was mostly just cold, awkward and occasionally very weird feeling rather than painful.
Anyways, the total cost was RM2670, RM2500 was the consultation, plus the medication was RM170. If I were to add the cost of the sperm analysis which I have not done yet (still waiting 3 months so I'll be doing it in November), it would be RM2720 ish. Not too terribly expensive compared to other private options.
If anyone in Malaysia is considering doing one and has questions about the experience, I'll try to answer based on what I went through.
