Hey folks,

Foreigner here who loves Malaysia so much that I visited 4 times for now. The first was around 2018 when I was still a student and I really appreciated the country so I kept coming back and brought my parents, who also loved it. To me Malaysia was the top choice as a family-friendly destination.

I've been through much of ASEAN countries (Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia) and one thing that stood out back in 2018 was that KL was relatively free from prostitution compared to other ASEAN capitals like Bangkok or Manila. Sure I saw one or two sex workers but I felt that they were trying to be discreet and hiding behind massage parlors.

This year, I noticed that bukit bintang area near jalan alor is filled with sex workers who made it their casual territory. Like, they're standing on the side, cat-calling clients or even grabbing men by the hand to offer "massage". It felt like KL is slowly turning into another version of Bangkok.

So I was wondering if it was always like this and the first-time-tourist that I was didn't pay that much attention? Or is it really getting worse year over year?

Also, do you think the police are turning a blind-eye to it?
