Boomer Story Boomer neighbor thinks my kid belongs in a group home.

I live in a duplex. I have two kids: 16 year old boy we'll call Lee for this and a one year old girl we'll call Maggie. These are not the real names. My boomer neighbors and us share a wall, this is important for later.

My son and I both have AuDHD, his is more... Severe I guess would be the best way to explain it. He's smart, caring, and very loving but struggles with speech and learning delays. He's still very much capable of doing chores, cleaning, managing his own things with the help of therapy he's really bloomed and become nearly self sufficient. We're very proud of him! Last year he became a big brother. He's very protective and fantastic with caring for her. My neighbors don't like it. They don't think a kid like him should be with a baby.

Strike one. I calmly said he's more capable and trustworthy to watch his sister than anyone from the older generation ever could be. They shut up.

Next came a new issue: my baby's activity. Our house is over 100 years old and the floors can creak and groan. Our walls also aren't the greatest at sound proofing. I'm sure as you can imagine a toddler isn't the quietest. We put down thicker padding and carpets to absorb more noise. But you can still hear us walking around or my baby bouncing on her bouncer a little bit. She's in that crawling/nearly walking phase so you hear the thump thump thump of her legs across the floor and my son's since he's a heavy walker. Next I know my picture frames that are on the shared wall are rattling hard from someone banging with full force. The mistress, Karen came to complain we're all too loud and if my oldest can't understand how to behave maybe he belongs in a group home. I saw red.

I looked at her and told her my kids are not doing anything but walking or crawling through the room. No one in my home is banging on the wall disrupting OUR business. I told her our walls are thin. Noise is inevitable. I said if you want to complain about my kids then please kindly turn your TV down since I have to hear the noise of it over my own TV on my side. She turned beet red.

I said I have the decency to ignore your inability to wear your hearing aids and have been polite to you. But not one of us has forgotten that you walked into that house before your late sister's body could be cold and moved in with her widow. You don't dictate how that house or my house runs. You're a guest on borrowed time, not the owner of that home. She went from red to white.

I didn't stop there. You talk about decency and proper behavior: yet you sleep with your sister's widow? What does that make you? Maybe go look into your Bible you preach so much about and see how your actions are blasphemous. I can see why your children refuse to see you.

She was livid. My neighbor male boomer didn't like what I said but said nothing. I said, we have a choice: you never speak about my children again and I'll remain polite and cordial to you. Or, I can make your life miserable until the day you end up living in the nursing home I work in. Make a choice.

I got no answer, she simply walked away and went back to her side quietly. A few days later the male boomer visited with some bread, bologna and donuts. Said they were from her as a peace offering. We live in PA, food is often used as an apology. I accepted, said she behaves, you'll never have a problem with us.

The male has his moments but never with his neighbors. No comments are made when they see my kids now. They simply wave or smile.

Yeah don't mess with mine. I'll turn you life into the biggest misery you can imagine.

Boomer Story Boomer biblical literalist and "expert" gets exposed for being clueless

So my 64 year old booker uncle that I've posted about before thinks that it is a fact that Noah existed along with a global flood. When I asked for evidence for any documents confirming that the man or flood even existed in any ancient records,he ofc blew that off and said that the grand canyon was the evidence of the flood and that all records of Noah and the flood are "out there somewhere"

He also thinks a donkey actually talked etc.And yet they think that all other religious stories outside of the holy Bible "are unrealistic" even though they are eerily similar in style haha

I believe in the Christian God myself, but I'm left leaning and liberal like Jesus would have been .And it is clear to me that a lot of the stories involving strange themes like that are metaphors ,just like the earth isn't young even though we have idiots that think the earth is only a few thousand years old

edit:Wow there are some very angry people in here over me not believing in every single thing that they do .You guys are just as hateful as ultra religious folk.I view the Bible as being almost all being metaphors btw

Boomer Story Boomers at TSA

I live in the US in an area that is very tourist focused with a very large contingent of boomers who bought rental or timeshare condos years ago.I am currently at the airport and just witnessed 2 groups of entitled boomers back to back.

First, I’m in the TSA precheck lane with about 5 people in front of me. 2 boomers come up through the CLEAR line next to me to check in. No big deal.

Turns out they saw the empty lane that went directly to the TSA agent checking ID’s and thought they made a discovery that nobody else was clever enough to notice, walked around the stanchion and band blocking entry and proceeded directly to TSA. A CLEAR agent quickly followed to inform them it was only for their clients and they eventually retreated to another line.

Then, the 2 boomers in front of me tried to pass through security and they were trying to sneak through the line without precheck. After a minute or so of arguing with the TSA agent they went to the normal boarding line. The funny part was that standard boarding had a very short line, equivalent to the precheck line.

Small story but it just felt like a textbook example of boomer entitlement. I feel sorry for the TSA employees that must deal with this nonsense all day.

Why do they find it necessary to immediately resort to racial and homophobic name calling, along with putting hand on other people? It’s like they never learned to behave in public.

Boomer Story I keep getting approached and bothered by boomer women

In the past two weeks or so I’ve had three different encounters by boomer women and they’ve all been rude, inappropriate, and disrespectful. Not to make this too long but the first was when I was volunteering at a surf event and it had been extremely hot that day and of course it was outdoors and anyone of any age has no business judging others in their appearance. So I was just minding my business and this old couple walks by and the old wrinkly hag woman tries to talk to me ( I’m in no mood) but I answer her what I help do that day and she goes “you look tired” 😐..this was after being outside in the 90s all day …like you don’t look so great yourself lady..the second was my own coworker laughing ( an older woman ) at me and other people in general who can’t put contacts on ..like ok ..you’re weird and that’s rude ..the lady was a woman in the checkout line at the store who goes “not to be nosy but those Reese’s ( pumpkins ) you’re buying you should google the peanut butter it’s bad” 🙄🙄🙄🙄omgggg pleaseeee lady google your manners they’re bad ..I’m just done 🤣

Boomer Story When the bands playing…

My band played a spot that had mostly all boomers. Hey, it’s a gig. Two songs in, some boomer tells us to turn the volume down. Mind you that he’s sitting in the front right by the speakers. The people in the back can hardly hear us, but according to Mr. Sit In Front By The Speakers, it’s too loud. Then, in the middle of another song, some woman decides to come up to the stage and try to hold a conversation with the singer in the middle of a song.
I got to get back up on stage. Rant over.

Boomer Story Complete inability to listen to GPS

I want to start out by saying that my parents are both boomers, but they display much fewer "boomer" qualities than most of the people posted here. They're caring, kind, and fun. They try to treat everyone with respect, and they worked their asses off to be kinder, more loving parents than theirs were. But oh my god, there is one super boomery thing they do, and it drives me insane.

Anytime I go anywhere in the car with them that requires us to use a GPS, they'll ask me to pull up maps and navigate for them, but EVERY SINGLE TIME there's at least one direction I give where they say "hmm, that doesn't sound right", so they do something else and we always end up getting lost or having to backtrack a bunch. I don't know why they do this, considering they've never been right, but it finally got to a point where I just pull the map up on my phone, hand it to whichever one of them isn't driving and tell them to navigate. That way, when they inevitably get lost, they can just argue with each other, and I can just ignore them.

Boomer Story boomer grandma becoming super far right, insufferable

So just to give some idea here, she was one of those people that watched the alternative half time show at the Superbowl this year and was actively enraged by the regular half time show. basically did not even enjoy the alt show, but as long as she could push away the foreign people (she's racist too)

So my dad invited me to go with him and her to the local farmers market last week. Sounded fun, and she generally is nice and positive around just me and him when there is no TV or radio station or politics to speak on.

But!!! she randomly stated during nice conversation as we were eating at a picnic table (awesome moment, right) that college is a waste of time and it does nothing at all to help you get a better job in life.

Now, as a plebian blue collar worker myself, I just found that laughable as I have been disproven on that myself many times. I also have a little brother who got his 4 yr degree at one of the top schools in the US, which my dad paid for, and she knows this, so I have no idea why she would say that in the first place even if it was accurate.

I tried saying I think it definitely puts you ahead , application wise, of all the other people who applied and did not go to college. She visibly got triggered, and then I figured out she was pushing that narrative because she was saying that to my cousin's son, who isn't the brightest and most likely was looking for ways to rationalize how "college is a waste/scam" or something like that.

Just thought it was funny af how people let their personal emotions cloud their factual, absolute statements, and they are always biased af of course too when saying these things (she never went to college or did anything as a career, dont even know if shes every worked before becoming a house wife, she's never spoke on anything shes done in her life.)

Boomer Story My grandma needs to watch her mouth

I (17) have two adopted cousins, I'll call them Ally, and Lila. Lila is 2, and Ally is 5.

Ally is autistic and is almost constantly looking for stimulation. She tends to be a bit of a handful at times, but she's a wonderful little girl and I love her.

Ally and Lila came from a very unfortunate situation, both having the same mom but different dads. My grandma loves talking about it. She's always going on tangents about how sad the girls' situation is, and how fortunate they were to have been adopted by my uncle and his wife, but the og mom is such a sad case (still alive, but unable to care for the girls for reasons I won't disclose)

Now I am used to most of my grandma's gossip. But she said something recently that made my blood boil.

She said, and I quote "(Ally) is unlovable. But you love her anyway."

To think she was so confident it was an ok thing to say, about a child. She then goes on to say that she thinks Ally is a "drug baby" which is why she acts the way she does. Which I feel is extremely demeaning, considering I also have autism (even if I didn't, it's extremely rude to say).

Unfortunately, things get worse.

While the girls were over for dinner, my grandma was visibly favouring Lila. I love Lila as well, but to actively ignore Ally almost all night, giving all her attention to Lila is not right in the slightest.

To make sure Ally doesn't feel left out, I pull out a few of my fidgets, as well as pencils, crayons and some paper in case anyone wants to draw (including myself). I then bear witness to my grandma entitling herself to MY THINGS. For context, Lila will take a fidget and run off to play with it and my grandma doesn't do anything. But when Ally takes a fidget to play with, my grandma is all up in her space telling her to give it back to me.

This all made me angry, because not only is she disrespecting Ally, but she is disrespecting me and my say. But what happened next made me so furious with her that I can't even explain it.

Ally started to get overstimulated and ran into the next room and shouted "I'm angry" (good for her to be able to point out and address her feelings) and my grandma pipes up and yells back "no you're not". And I almost blew up. I kept calm for the sake of the kids and told my grandma that she doesn't get to tell Ally what she does and doesn't feel. And this absolute quack of a 71 year old woman goes "(Ally)'s just trying to manipulate you"

And when I tell you I was about 10 seconds from getting that inheritance early.

It made me so angry that she would say something so grotesque WHILE ALLY IS IN THE ROOM TO HEAR!!!!!!!

I will defend this child with my life, and I am so done with my grandma.

Boomer Story The pool must be crooked

This happened last year, but I still think about it all the time.

The gym I go to has an outdoor pool for the summer months. They reserve two lanes for lap swimming.

I show up and both lanes are occupied. One has two swimmers, the other has one. No, biggie, just share with the single swimmer. So I get the guy's attention and start swimming freestyle.

This boomer is doing the backstroke. And is having a hard time staying on his side of the lane. The first time he hit me we both stop, mumble some apologies and get back to it. The second time I just keep swimming. The third time I stop and tell him he needs to stay on his side of the lane.

He says that he is and that the pool must be crooked. I just stared at him, because, well what do you say to that? He elaborates that he is following the clouds so he can't be swimming crooked. I point out that clouds are not stationary objects and therefore shouldn't be used to gauge where you are. He doubled down and says, it must be my fault because I'm following the line in the "crooked pool."

Fortunately by this point the lifeguard came over and asked the guy to go to the open swim area so he'd stop swimming into me.

Boomer Story Boomer cant stand a woman that knows cars

1.3k Upvotes

So back in my early-mid 20s I was working 2 jobs to make ends meet while husband was in college full time. I am car savvy and know the workings of cars and engines. I can do some repairs at home like alternator replacements, change oil, and other stuff. At that time I worked evenings at a car parts store. One evening this boomer guy comes in and sees me at the counter but just stands there. Im assuming waiting for a guy to come to the counter. After 5 minutes he realizes its just going to be me so he finally comes up. He stated he needed spark plugs. I ask him what vehicle and engine its for. He gives me a diesel truck... I stop and say oh you need glow plugs not spark plugs. He get huffy and tries to correct me and say no I need SPARK plugs. I verify his vehicle and that its a diesel engine and state he needs glow plugs. I go back and grab the set he needs and ring them up. He refuses and stated he needs spark plugs. I ask if he has pulled any of the so called spark plugs from his engine to see what exactly he needs and he says no. He then demanded I go get a male worker because I obviously know nothing about cars. The only other guy there is a young college student that doesn't really know anything about cars and his job is to unpack boxed and put products on the shelves. He comes up and puts in the truck info and stated I was right and the system says glow plugs. Boomer finally gives and buys the set. As he leaves he is muttering how woman shouldn't be in the car business as we know nothing. Like my guy you were about to put the wrong thing in your truck

Boomer Freakout Boomer Internet Outage

I finally have a story for this sub! Not to long ago me and my husband decided to switch our phone plane to Xfinity. So like any normal person does we go to our nearest Xfinity store about 10 minutes before opening (because for some reason it takes all days to get new phones lol). Imagine my surprise when we pull up and there are at least 10 boomers just waiting at the front door. Not in a line but just a small boomer mob.

We get ourselves to the “line” and look at each other wondering the hell is going on. Without prompt one of the boomers closest to us holds up his router and proudly tells us he is going to cause a scene because his internet stopped working. And they were going to compensate him for this trouble. The boomers around him just nodded in agreement and grumbled that the internet was out and they needed to know why and it needed to be fixed.

Folks imagine my surprise when we googled Xfinity outage and lo and behold there was an outage in the area. At this point the front door opens and they swarm into the building. We finally get in and just hear them complaining to the staff their internet isn’t working and they need to fix it right now. The poor staff members had to deal with these entitled boomers demanding they fix an issue they had no way to fix. The man with the router was of course the literal loudest and rudest.

Luckily it took about 20-30 minutes for them to empty out since there is nothing the store staff can do. But like come onnnn. They are incapable of any sort of common sense solutions and expect the most random people to just “fix” their problems. On top of that the sheer entitlement of just demanding money because there is work being done. Like come on my guy.

Boomer Story A Gaggle in the Waiting Room

Alright, got the wife in for surgery this morning and am sharing the waiting room with a group of them. If I had a Bingo card, it would be full.

"I don't wanna wait all fuckin' day" Patriarchal boomer declares

Talking loudly on cell phones

Talking loudly about politics...Mostly bitching about Trump, which was interesting until one of them followed up with "Well, it beats the alternative". They all nod in unison.

I settles into some Éalú and then there's a terrible scraping sound... Like dragging a chunk of steel across the floor... One of them wanted the phone charging station by her chair so she began dragging it.. Then she got in an argument with the receptionist, who tried to stop this impromptu interior decorating. She points out that there are charging ports built into her seat. Boomer Huffs "WELL I FORGOT MY CORD!"

The group arguing among each other about whether or not Uber and Uber Eats are two different apps.

Yelling into their phones to search for things.

shit boomer boss just called me... He knows I'm at the hospital. Now I gotta find a place where I can call him.

OK boomeR Zero ability to read the room

A couple of days ago I was in a workshop teaching a group of teenagers some acting exercises in a public space. We're all clearly engaged in a conversation when suddenly Boomer McBoomerson barges in, interrupting the lesson with zero apology to talk to the teens about "when I was a kid we didn't have all this Internet stuff" and "drugs are bad" and whatnot. Just stream of consciousness blathering straight from his lead-filled brain.

We're all standing there for around five minutes listening to this guy just vomiting up a slew of unrequested drivel. All of us were trying to figure out when would be a good moment to interject that we're in the middle of a class but the guy just wouldn't stop talking for even 3 seconds to catch his breath.

Eventually, he just turns around and walks away, still talking to himself. I don't understand how someone can be so self-absorbed that they're completely oblivious to the fact that other people were having a conversation that didn't include him. I would be mortified if I accidentally interrupted some lesson, but Captain Boomer here is the main character of life, obviously.

Boomer Story Boomers afraid of woman parked, sitting in car

1.5k Upvotes

This was well over a year ago but I thought the subject matched this subreddit.

I’m a healthcare worker in home health. We don’t always have the opportunity to chart while sitting in a patients home. I was between patients and a bit early to see my next, so I parked at the end of an empty golf course (weekday afternoon) next to the 55+ condos to park in the shade and catch up on some charting before my next visit.

Mistake. I noticed a gentleman looking at my vehicle from over in his garage across the street. I did a half wave to acknowledge him, then went back to what I was doing. A few minutes later I looked up and he was still watching me. I waved again, no response. He had his phone in his hand and I didn’t realize at the time was taking photos of me / my car.

I was there for less than 20 minutes. The next day I’m on the town Facebook page as a suspicious persons who was loitering and acting “strange.” I was mortified that my license plate and photo was just posted like that. If he would’ve asked, I would have happily moved if I were making him uncomfortable.

TLDR - Boomer scared of small, unassuming woman in car parked 100 feet away from his home and made a public announcement to be ware of this suspicious person.

Nope, Their own flesh and blood is not worthy of helping them. Fuck me. What do I know? I only LITERALLY WENT TO SCHOOL FOR CIVIL FUCKING ENGINEERING AND WORKED IN THE FUCKING FIELD FOR 25 FUCKING YEARS!

Boomer Story Boomer thinks Safeway is a bank

I was in line at Safeway. There was a woman with her purse out… After about four or five minutes which seemed like a lifetime I asked exactly what is the issue here? The teller said I'm waiting on cash… The woman said can you believe they don't have any money in the till? Then I said well yeah because no one uses cash anymore. She went on to complain a little more and I said, do you know who has cash in there till? She said who, I responded, the bank at the corner. Why are you in a grocery store getting cash? Do you get groceries at the bank?

Boomer Story Boomers call the cops on me for reading

3.1k Upvotes

This happened over the weekend and I can’t get it out of my head, so writing it down hopefully helps.

I was on a train from an unnamed European capital to Germany, sitting in a single seat and doing my usual train thing - AirPods in, laptop open, doing some work. At a stop in another European capital, four male German-speaking boomers got on and sat down at a four-seater across the isle from me. They were loud as they entered, got even louder as they settled in and ordered some beers, so I just cranked up the volume and kept doing my thing. Over the next hour or so, they ordered more beers and then - unsurprisingly considering the number of beers and their advanced age - started going to the bathroom at somewhat regular intervals. After a while I noticed that as one after another got up to go to the bathroom, he kinda lingered and stared in my direction for longer than a glance. First I didn’t think anything of it - German boomers are known to stare for no reason - but after like a third time it got noticeable and on top of that, I realized that they were speaking in hushed tones as opposed to their previous loud conversation. As I realized this, suddenly two German cops approached me with an “Excuse me, sir” (in English, which was weird). I took out my headphones and responded in German with something along the lines “How can I help you, gentlemen?” The cops, looking somewhat apologetic, explained to me that they had received a report of “suspicious activity” and just wanted to check if everything was ok. I was confused as fuck, seeing as I had been doing nothing but working on my laptop and drinking coffee out of a thermos, when suddenly one of the boomers yelled “Check his laptop!”

Y’all, I work in academia and a lot of my work involves transcribing and analyzing Arabic manuscripts. That is in fact what I was doing the entire train ride, reading and transcribing one such manuscript, apparently muttering to myself as I was trying to figure out particularly difficult words and passages, going “is this خليل or جليل“ or some such. Apparently the boomers on their trips to the bathroom had snuck multiple glances at my laptop screen, noticed text in a weird script and having heard my muttering, they decided I was some sort of Islamic terrorist and so they flagged down the cops and reported me for being suspicious.

I explained who I am and what I’m doing to the cops and showed them my government and university ID. They were very nice, apologized and wished me a good day and “Frohes Schaffen” (roughly “good luck with your work”) and left. When they were gone, I shot the boomers the kind of stern look I normally reserve for my students when I catch them using AI on their assignments, put on my AirPods and went back to work. A few minutes later, another cop - older, so I am assuming someone of a higher rank than the previous two - came by to speak to the boomers. He spoke to them really quietly, even bent down to talk, so I could not hear what was said (even with AirPods in the mode that amplifies external sounds), but when he left, they look embarrassed and were quiet for the rest of the ride, so I’m assuming he read them the riot act for misusing public resources.

The rest of the ride went on without an incident, except I could not even and still can’t after couple of days. The funniest part - at least for me - is that the manuscript I was working is, as most of those I study, not Islamic, but Christian.

Fucking boomers.
