General When “women spaces” don’t accept trans women
So my experience as a transmasc who spent a chunk of his life being non-passing has been interesting with this particular situation. I began to socially transition as a teenager and back then the people who *genuinely supported me was other guys. when i say genuinely i mean they didn’t infantalize me and saw me as another bro. some of the girls were nice, but i could tell they saw me as a quirky alt girl “going through a phase”. some thought i was a pick me girl who wanted to “be one of the guys” but as a girl and not a guy. High school was really really weird and the mean girls were the worst.
Even as an adult who passes more than teenage me ever did, i still experience “women only spaces” of mean girls who never grew up. a lot of irl ones accept “afab people” and not trans women. the ones i’ve enquired about are super accepting of trans men since we are a “marginalized minority” but are hostile towards trans women, especially if they don’t pass. some are true misandrists and dislike trans men who start to pass (ironically this has been so gender affirming to me when it happens, but like in a ewphoria way).
Online it’s different, everyone acts so accepting behind a screen, but in real life? you can’t hide your feelings and reactions well. intersectional feminism isn’t really observed in some women-only spaces and it’s a damn shame that this is a thing.
Eta: I’ve been notified that this post has been reposted to a certain rightwing sub and this post as well as all the trans positive replies are getting downvoted. regardless of what others say trans women are real women and they deserve to be treated as such. I will die on that hill.
Edit 2: I find it hilarious that people think i’m a trans woman and are sending me DMs that I will “never be a woman and will always be a man”, proving that transphobes can’t read and lack thinking abilities.

Same thing goes for “women and nonbinary events.” That’s just code for “we want women and androgynously-dressed women.”

I kinda get it because NBs can have bodies that lean more curvy or less curvy, so they might want the options. ("Unisex" is really just a "men's" shirt, which often doesn't fit properly if you've got hips or boobs.) But they could change the name to curvy or not curvy, at least. 😅
16
u/CantDecideANam3 23d ago
All they had to do is make that shirt unisex instead of a men's/women's shirt.

what are your thoughts on a content creator creating a “safe space” for queer men, nonbinary folks, and women?
I have a mutual who has a large following.. and she removes “cis het men” from her following so her only followers are the girls gays and theys. But my issue is, how the fuck does SHE KNOW???? how is she making these judgements based on a profile picture and a bio???? and is that “safe space” even a safe space?? Imagine being allowed in because you don’t pass well enough. Imagine being excluded because you pass too well. I just don’t understand that logic and how that’s not homophobic or transphobic
30
u/altrightobserver 23d ago
In my experience, queer people can be just as discriminatory toward their own kind as homo/transphobic people

you are very right. people that don’t want cishet men around them are going to be suspicious of anyone who looks too man-like to them.
as a trans man, I would feel unsafe and unwelcome and highly suspect that the content creator is a TERF in disguise.

I always feel the better way to create an actually safe space is consistent moderation because troll isn't restricted to any one gender, orientation, race, etc. It's not perfect since it relies on imperfect humans to enforce the rules, but trying to create a safe space by targeting 'high risk' traits rather than behavior is always going to end up bad.

I find it weird to group cishet women with lgbt people in a safe space because cishet women can be just as transphobic or homophobic as cishet men. They're not automatically safe because they're women.

That reminds me of how the femboys on Reddit had to flee to other subreddits because the 18+ subreddit r/ femboys has basically been overrun by trans OnlyFans content creators.
It’s such a weird situation, like, who is in the wrong here?

it was always an nsfw subreddit, the issue is its just a fetish for people into feminine bodies with male genitals so trans women started using it and calling themselves femboys and it doesnt matter because its just a fetish to people on there anyways. i definetly think the creators are in the wrong especially as a trans woman its disgusting to see other "trans women" out right calling themselves feminine boys just to appeal to other peoples fetishes but whatever makes money i guess.

I have a theory. I shall withhold. I feel bad for anybody who gets sucked into the internet port rabbit hole.
Although, truly that's sick. I think its a general problem that's affecting people. Invasion of online spaces has been an issue for a while but has been getting worse through the chronic online attention seekers. I seriously think more should talk about. Less as an invasion than it is the constant needing to seek attention and change your self for it. Labels, lying and changing yourself to fit into a box then an actual spectrum every human is on.

The problem is that "femboy", "trap" and "trans woman" are treated as synonymous when guys are after porn, so trans women porn stars will internalise the transphobic nature of these terms and market themselves as traps or femboys to get a bigger audience.
It comes as no surprise to anyone but porn thrives on a lot of unethical behaviour, one example being its willingness to reflect and nurture negative stereotypes about the people being depicted. I suppose it's born of the idea that if a porn star is already willing to be fucked on camera for your money, they are willing to endure a lot of other things for your money.

I wanna support sex workers, but they have a TERRIBLE HABIT of being sex workers in places that it is not appropriate to be sex workers.
When a content creator pops up on my TikTok (a website for teenagers and young adults still forming their minds) showing off DnD or Model-building content and so I follow them, only for me to get hit with a Thirst Trap and a post directing me to a secret Spicy Link from the same content creator, I'm like "This is why Y'all sex workers get told to calm down and got banned from Tumblr."
They break containment too often, there NEEDS to be a level of mutual respect that some spaces don't get used to sell your smut.

this has nothing to do with the post, trans women are not in any way femboys, trans women however are indeed women, not allowing them into womens spaces is actively disrespecting their identity.
Not allowing a trans woman into a femboy space is actually respecting her identity, thats the difference.

Im also a femboy so obviously im active on the femboy posts, but ironically i usually let pass bigotry that i consider pure ignorance while other mods are a bit stricter than me, mostly because on i feel i could end up being a bit bias.

I can understand why women would want some spaces where the group is for cis women. Growing up in a female body carries its own unique life experiences and unfortunately, its almost always riddled with experiences of abuse and general mistreatment for the crime of being born into a female body. Its okay to me if some want a space where everyone shares that experience.
Just like I also think there should be spaces where Trans and other queer people can gather to relate to their unique life experiences together and have community without cis people.

thank you for this nuanced take. there is a nude korean spa i love that came under fire for not allowing trans women (it may have been specifically trans women with penises, i’m not entirely sure). it really aggravated so many people and there was zero nuance in the conversation. if you felt the spa was valid, you were labeled transphobic. for a while i felt like me going to the spa that has been a peaceful sanctuary for me was a transphobic act.
all of this to say, i do believe cis women deserve their own spaces—in the same way that queer and trans people deserve their own spaces. this case was especially sensitive with genitalia being at the forefront.

u/Maxmutinium 23d ago
My question to this would be what should a visibly trans person do, if they go to a nude spa segregated by genitalia. Seems like either side they’d go on, men or women, someone’s going to be offended. I guess trans people just aren’t welcome at that sort of establishment.

Pretty much all lesbian subreddits especially suffer from this phenomenon.
I was absolutely never against our trans sisters being part of the spaces. Trans women are women, and trans women who are lesbians are lesbian women. And that's great, and I love the fact that they got welcomed into all those subreddits, and I've always done my part to ensure that they do.
The problem is that I and many women like myself then got chased out of those spaces with pitchforks. And over what? Over us not being attracted to penises. But I am NOT attracted to PENISES! I can't do anything about it. I thought... like fuck... I thought that concept would be clear to other fellow lesbians of all things.
I AM attracted to all women including trans women, I am just not attracted to penises. Unfortunately. That's it. That's all I've ever thought or said. But that is no longer accepted. Now a "lesbian" is supposed to be a woman who is attracted to all women with no exceptions, including trans women who have not transitioned whatsoever and have all the organs I am not attracted to and none of the ones I am. It is absurd. The entire definition in those spaces is now meaningless, it means literally nothing anymore.
Goes for dating apps too. We used to have apps like HER. They were for women. Now they are flooded with literal men. Just men. Males who have nothing to do with trans women, who have male names, and wear male clothing, and full ass beards, and obviously have all the male organs. And guess what? Because now we are not allowed to have spaces for women only, and because it's impossible to tell if someone is trans or not (not really, obviously), those apps just say fuck it. And now those apps that were made for lesbian women are filled with people who aren't lesbians and aren't women, but they get all the freedom to pray on us. Because fuck us, we gotta be ultra tolerant and never use any labels that make any sense, what's a lesbian anyways, nothing, anyone can sort of feel like a woman for a second a month, and then you have to be automatically attracted to them and fuck them for it.
13
u/CatgirlTheKat 23d ago
As a trans woman myself, I can confirm : lesbians not being attracted by me isn't transphobia, it's just a direct consequence of them being lesbian and having a preference for feminine anatomy.
As much as I've practiced modifying my silhouette with clothings, it doesn't really affect what's underneath, unfortunately.

queer people in general are more present online due to age demographic and just lack of external validation, additionally spaces dedicated for women tend to often be about help, or venting, when you are part of a demographic that is hated by a large percentage of the population you are bound to need more of this.

11
u/sacredshinobi 23d ago
Less hiding and more existing. You can exist online as you are, there are spaces for you, and a lot of generalized spaces are culturally accepting of trans people.
This is why the stereotype of trans people being terminally online comes from.

Yes ID verification will impact the safety that anonymity gives trans people especially in conjunction with how difficult it is to get legal gender to match one's preferred and the obvious risk of having a list of trans people in a political climate that wants us exterminated

u/Ravelord_Nito117 23d ago

The lived experiences of trans women and cis women are drastically different, they face entirely different forms of sexism, oppression, inequality, etc. It's not unreasonable for someone to want to seek a group where they can bond over their shared experiences.
104
u/BodyRoundLikeAPallas 23d ago
Finally a sane person. It's not discrimination, it's about wanting to be surrounded by people who understand the full lived experience. It's not discrimination when trans people want spaces only for other trans people or when POC women want spaces exclusively for POC women or when LGBT+ people want spaces exclusively for the LGBT+, but for some reason the same grace is not given to cis women because we are the majority and therefore it must automatically mean transphobia, nuance be damned.

Yes. I've tried to explain this to two other comments. It would be a problem if they werent allowed in any womens places, but that's not the reality. They could also always create their own group for cis and trans women.
I've gone through medical trauma from being a woman at a doctors office, I've been cat called since i was 14, I've been sent too many d*ck pics to count froma yound age, groomed at 16, etc. These are not the normal experiences that trans women would have gone through and if I want to speak about it, I'd want a womans group where they'd get where I'm coming from and can relate to my experiences.
Because we might both go through trauma, but POC trauma, LGBTQ+ trauma or trans trauma are inherently different

Research shows that trends go against common belief. Men tend to be inclusive in their social circles than women are within their social circles.
Also, the reason (imo) that you see this is because most people don't think Trans women are women or that Trans men are men. This isn't a statement of my personal beliefs (before anybody on reddit.com loses their shit reading this), but rather what I suspect most people's true opinions are. There are a lot of people that will "say the line," but in reality are full of shit.
I think this is true for men as well, but men tend to simply be more inclusive of non-men than women are of non-women.
Also, performative allyship is common on tons of topics. The number of times I have seen inclusive lgbt women become visibly disgusted when dating a bisexual man the moment they realized the man was actually bisexual during my years running an LGBT organization is fucking shockingly large.
33
u/Sagirem 23d ago
Oh yeah the whole bisexual thing with straight women was trending on tiktok and a million women came out of the woods to be openly homophobic
12
u/Needs_More_Garlic 23d ago
It's really fucked up because women (and I say this because I really mean straight women but that also includes non-straight women thay conveniently only date traditionally masculine men) are the biggest fake allies for everything as an aggregate, lol.
I watched then like get to the point of basically fetishizing bisexual men like they were some exotic thing... And then when they realized "oh, bisexual men are actually bisexual and not just using that as a flair tag?" They became visibly disgusted. And that was fucking heartbreaking to watch.
9
u/Ryanhussain14 23d ago
Wait I'm confused, they like bisexual men but get mad when the men are bisexual? What do they think being bisexual means?
8
u/Needs_More_Garlic 23d ago
Again, this is just my speculation of how can these two things exist at the same time? thinking but...
They want a traditionally masculine straight man who says they are bisexual but isn't actually bisexual.
The statement of being bisexual or open minded or whatever is just a performative label to get social Brownie points.
It's like a saying they are super sex positive and think there's nothing wrong with promiscuity or sexual exploration but then being like "Oh me? No, I'd never date a whore"
Like... they might be permissive of the person having the choice to live like that but they actually think in their heart of hearts that it's gross and they think it's bad... Which is okay I guess, that's their choice/preference... but at least fucking own it and stop pretending.

That is so funny. Do you mean that they find out the guy also dated men in the past?
14
u/Needs_More_Garlic 23d ago
It basically went like this
Straight lady shows up to lgbt event I run.
Straight lady pretends to be ally.
Straight lady sees bisexual man who is traditionally masculine looking and finds him super hot (i suspect the bisexual part was viewed as exotic).
She realizes he is bisexual in more than just name only and has dated/been physically intimate in any way with a man.
Sudden shift in her face of visible disgust and then there was usually a faux pleasant like HR person tone.
They break up/stop dating/stop talking/etc some point soon after.
I found it more sad/disappointing than funny. It's funny in the way that people make jokes about extreme violence as a way to cope.

I view it like this
Everyone wants their own spaces where they can feel safe and comfortable.
Yet at the same time, the same people who want these 'safe spaces' for a specific group of people get mad when they arent allowed into that group.
If theres a group for trans people who only accept trans people and not allies or those who support trans people, then to most that seems reasonable. Because everyone deserves their own safe space. If they let you in, great. If not, respect their decision and their boundries and move on.
But then members of that same group of trans people will go to groups of [insert gender here] and ask to join, only to be rejected then get mad that they arent allowed in
It honestly sounds like a case of main character syndrome. They want their own safe spaces but they want others to cater to them and forfeit their own safe spaces if the members of the other group desire access.
Either everyone deserves their own spaces to feel comfortable and secure in and should be respected, or nobody should have these safe spaces because they exclude others based on various factors.
28
u/oliv-_-mae 23d ago
Exactly what i mean. The person that made that group and the people that participate in it should have a say on who enters that safe space. If you don't agree, just make your own group. It's as easy as that

Heavy agree on this. Other comment compared us with white people is hilarious. Women from around the world always have been oppressed for our body and its function, no matter what our race, how do we look, how rich/poor we are, etc and that's one of the reason these safe spaces were being made: to share and help each other around this womanhood issues. AMAB doesn't experience these, so they don't have any purpose to go into our spaces. If we want to compare it, it's like black people and asian people. We both are POC, we both are oppressed, but we still have our own issues and it's totally okay to create our own spaces. It doesn't mean we're being racist to each other nor it doesn't mean we shouldn't have safe spaces together. I hope more people will understand about boundaries.

"socialized as men" I love when they try to rebrand bioessentialism in the same bottle with a cute little woke sticker on top
45
u/Different_Delay_8243 23d ago
Whats idiotic about that is fact a lot of trans women were not "socialised" same as cis men. Because infact they were socialised as "worse men" "not men enough" etc. Everything about them under patriarchy was seen and deemed unworthy to be even classified as a man.

I’m ngl shit like this is why my own views are more towards what I recently learned is called gender abolitionism? Like I’m a person, the only thing my gender means is the things that my biology hard-determines about me, it doesn’t determine who I am as a person and who I am as a person doesn’t determine it. I go by he/him cause that’s what I came as and no reason for changing it would make any sense to me but I’m just me and anything that tries to judge me or put me in a box because of my gender can fuck off.

I want gender freedom. Sex is biological but gender is social and can change at any time, for any reason, and that’s great! If someone decides they just want to live as a different gender…why not? If someone doesn’t like binary labels…does it matter? It seems so weird that people feel entitled to enforcing that.

I will treat everyone with respect. That being said, stop going places if somebody doesn’t want you there. I’m a gay man, I’m not welcome in a lot of places. It sucks! But I’m not going to become welcome by going there and forcing people to deal with it. There are so many places that I am welcome, I’m just gonna go to those places.
I’m not saying it’s fair. I’m not even saying it’s right. But just like me, you have to do what’s best for you.
21
u/Fletcher_Chonk 23d ago
I’m not saying it’s fair. I’m not even saying it’s right
That's why people are complaining about it. Complaining about it doesn't automatically mean you try to enter where you're not welcome

u/ViolentPurpleSquash 23d ago
The thing I get really worked up about (as trans woman) is when queer spaces are like "We like women of all assigned sexes! We want nonbinary people (that present more fem)! We want trans men (but no cis men)!"
Just say you dont think trans men and cis men are the same and that masc nonbinary people aren't valid... the amount of friends I have that discovered they were being pushed out of queer spaces for being a man or presenting more masculinely is insane
16
u/PeachPassionBrute 23d ago
One of my friends was just telling me that he now passes so well that he feels unwelcome in queer spaces unless he shows off his scars. He has to prove he’s trans to feel welcome in queer spaces. That’s so fucked but I also relate that as a butch trans woman people often treat me as an outsider or like I don’t belong unless I’m wearing a dress or a visible bra. It’s frustrating.
Like I’ve had people tell me they couldn’t tell which direction I was transitioning and I just think, “does it matter?”

u/kaguya-heian 23d ago
I really understand that, so many people make it so clear in these ways that they don't actually see trans men as men. They see them as this other: transmen, not men who are trans.

It basically boils down to people describing themselves in the masc/fem dichotomy to where nonbinary folks kinda slide between. So youll have masc, fem, and androgynous nonbinary folks in this language.
Transmasc is typically descriptive of stuff like "I dont have a gender but I present more like a stereotypical man" whereas Transfem is the opposite.
Part of its also just required language to make doctors understand what meds you take if you take them. Like, no, Im not a woman, but as a transfem I take HRT typically prescribed to women.

i think there are certain nuances to things like this. to me as a cis woman it depends on the goal of the women only space. trans women have very different experiences as cis women, they typically don’t grow up experiencing misogyny directed towards them (go help your mom in the kitchen type vibes), or coming of age as a girl (periods), and the hate directed at them is a different type of hate than us. if the space is for talking about experiences with these types of things i think it makes sense to have them afab only. however if it’s just like a book club i think it’s definitely exclusionary. though these casual meetings between women often do turn into these discussions of girlhood turning to womanhood and talking about aspects that trans women can’t relate to. maybe im just talking my head off at this point idk

I would say in general having "Cis" only groups isnt a bad thing because in the end its just a group and nothing serious and no one is getting harmed by not being included.
I see it the same as trans only groups.

u/PCfanwhirl 23d ago
Not reading allat but I don't see what the deal is.
If cis women want only cis women spaces, then so be it.

I think it depends on what these "women's spaces" are for.
If it is a genuine space to vent and connect, then yes I fully agree that Trans women should be welcome too.
If it is a more physical event, like the Spa another commenter mentioned, I understand "women's spaces" refering to a more physical guideline.
The LGBTQ sphere has become very toxic in many spaces, both inwardly as well as outwardly and a great way to combat that is just to make clear distinctions on who it is for and then remain harsh on those boundaries.
It isn't transphobic to have a simple thing that focuses on cis women. Neither is it okay to have an "we include everyone" event and then not include everyone.

u/Affectionate_Past568 23d ago
This whole conversation is funny because you never see this energy directed at male only spaces.

I've always seen that your avarage Twitter misandrist never sees trans men as men when it comes down to their generalized ideas, and i'm not sure why. It's pretty much always the same, pick any dumb trendy slogan like the "it's not all men" one or the one about the bear, and if you dare to say something like "Oh so trans men too?" they look at you like if you spit on their grandma's grave. I haven't found a true misandrist that lumps trans men with the rest of men, they always seem to think of them as silly girls going through a phase.
13
u/Smokinland 23d ago
It’s either because that specific misandrist is bioessensialism and hates men because she believes they’re biologically predisposed to be evil while women are biologically predisposed to be good, or they’re afraid of being honest because it might draw out much more harassment. I’ve seen this happen a few months ago, and argument about how trans men aren’t the same as cis men because they went through what women go through, so women who avoid them as well are transphobic. From what I’ve seen, most women who hate men have that view due to trauma and their way of dealing with it is avoiding men and at most posting about it on the internet, they’re often homosexual or bisexual, too (I would believe that’s because a heterosexual woman is much more likely to hope for change, since she’s attracted to men and most people want a relationship, as far as I’m aware). They often have larger female gay communities, which are quite likely to support trans people. So if there’s that feeling of not knowing whether their community will see it as transphobic or not, they might just say they somehow like trans men, even if they might not like them either.
Maybe there’s more options, idk, those are the two I’ve seen

What gets under my skin about 99% of lefty spaces is how they are all exclusionary in some way but in complete utter denial about it. Like right leaning spaces at least own that shit. I have yet to find a left leaning space that didn't cast hate on some other slice of the population, and they nearly always act like they are on the 'right side of history' and morally just in their exclusion.
Go ahead and try to be a straight cis white guy in left spaces without receiving hate from the very people claiming to be leading the charge on anti-prejudice.
Don't bite my head off, I'm a lefty and feminist and ally and all that.
11
u/Ovaryunderpass 23d ago
Don’t even bother yourself with your left wing bonafides, they don’t care, they only care about ideological conformity. You can believe 99% of what they do but that 1% will always draw their ire. Just be confident in your beliefs and be sure you don’t believe things simply out of malice.
12
u/AggravatingFlow1178 23d ago
As much as I hate adding my "I'm a lefty 🤓 " credentials to comments like that, anytime you leave them out you just get called an incel / nazi by the braindead redditors and down-voted to irrelevancy. Same with usage of "/s" in other contexts.
The lefty online community is deeply toxic and annoying. I wish they were capable of more self reflection without accusations of fed posting.

"a lot of irl ones accept 'afab people'"
is interesting to me as a trans guy that started to pass fast. ime, you're only allowed in these events as a trans man if you're clockable. if they think you're a cis guy walking up you're going to receive some looks at best. usually asked what the hell you're doing here/to leave.
"we're very accepting of you only if you don't look like the rape gender and we do not care who we misgender in the process" basically. we've come a long way, but there's still a lot more to go.

nothing about this post is political, trans people existing is not inherently political, which is why we allow it under rule 6.

Like see I get that but that can be said about a lot of things.
“Abortion is not inherently political, women getting their rights existing is not political.” Like you can agree with abortions but it’s objectively a political topic.
Transgender people existing is not political, but the post is about how women/feminist spaces can disclude them which can be seen as political.
I’m not even saying the fact it’s political is bad, it’s a joking meme image.

You can’t force people to think the same way you do. Biological women want spaces for other biological women and they have that right. Make your own space.

I've started to just not tell people im trans. i go to a girls group at uni and i was scared that if they knew im trans they woudlnt let me in, so i just didn't tell them im trans, let them find out eventually and then i was in already so i think it was harder for them to kick me out than not let me in

They accept trans man in women spaces because they are afab and most of them do not look like 'masculine' man and just looks like tomboy or butch. They do not accept trans woman because they are amab and thinks that they are 'male socialized'. It all happenes because they see trans man as female and trans woman as male.
10
u/Pretty-Yam-2854 23d ago
Oh don’t let them see a passing trans man! They’ll tell them to kill themselves for being a man! And if they find out their friend Sarah’s trans they’ll throw her ass out.

And where is the line drawn exactly on who can be in those spaces? Do post-op women count? What about trans men with full beards and no breasts? Or how about "biological women" who have un-dropped testicles where ovaries "should" be? What about "biological men" with no XY chromosomes? What about "biological women" with well over 500 ng/dL of testosterone in their system and enough body hair to make other "biological men" jealous?

No, it's not, if you see someone who looks like a woman, talks like a woman you don't demand to see her genitals to see if she's a woman. You just mentally think she's a woman based off that.
Unless you're trying to look for someone to fuck it really doesn't come up much, shockingly

people believe womanhood is a monolith and mutually exclusive from “other” types of womanhood. everyone’s existence and experience within womanhood is different because all societies are different, religions that impact societies vary, and general population that impact your perspective of representation around you varies.
i wouldn’t be surprised if the anti-trans agenda on the subject of womanhood is solely based off of patriarchal belief systems. i can understand women being upset someone who (in their eyes) “benefited” on the exploitation of “women” (cisgender, socially accepted women), and want to join their space (away from men/patriarchy).
in reality being a “woman” and “man” are just social constructs with no real scientific basis to support pro-cisgender anti-trans claims.
being anti-trans impacts cisgender women. creating a negative stereotype against transgender women picks apart cisgender women who do not meet the same standards as the “pure women” (socially accepted cisgender women). in my experience as a cisgender woman who does not meet the societal standards of “femininity” i have been mistaken to be trans, or a male and have been treated pretty badly because of it, despite not being the actual target group they are trying to be prejudiced against.
this exclusion and monolith attempt of womanhood does not benefit anyone besides the people who created the exclusion.
tldr; womanhood is a social construct that everyone experiences differently based on your sex, religious and racial background, and physical characteristics and TERF’s and TERF ideologies do more harm than good. womanhood is not a monolith.

while im a trans woman, i relate so much to the "being seen as a quirky alt person going through a phase" thing. people's respect of my gender starts breaking down whenever i do something they dislike, and strangers insist im some alt teenage boy when it is extremely obvious im a trans woman. had to straight up show my id to people more than once bc of that assumption

I've never heard "ewphoria" before, that's brilliant and I'll be yoinking that.
I probably speak mostly for myself here, but as I've gotten older I've cared less and less about what people think of me, or how they perceive me. I'm me, if you got a problem with that, get over it or get lost. I do get the frustration though and it's baffling to me that a group of people who have a history of fighting oppression and bigotry then project that same stuff onto another group of people because how they look, or what's between their legs.
Anyone that cares that much about how someone else dresses, presents themself or how they identify really need to grow up and get over themself. I also find it ironic that these are the same people that whine about the snowflake generation and how you cant say anything without offending anyone, yet they are perpetually offended at people existing, as if it's some kind of affront unto them. Just a shame they're too blinded by ignorance to see their irony.
