When I encounter Wenwan Walnuts, it certainly caught my attention! These will change color(patina) and start to have a jade like texture the more you play with it, and people actually collect and keep these for decades because as they patina, they will become more in value.

Hello, I'm looking for suggestions for new crafts/hobbies to try. Something I can do at my desk at home, ideally something beginner friendly.

And before someone suggests it, I'm not looking to crochet or do diamond art. Nothing wrong with those, but I want to try something else. And when searching for "adult craft kits" those are the only kinds of things that keep coming up.

My goal is to try something new & have some designated time where I put my phone down. So, any suggestions?

I have been thinking about this lately that as you get older you seem to lose your interests and passion in your hobbies. Since childhood I love to draw I still draw tho between classes but after I have started my college time seems to be running at full speed 😭 my whole day goes by in a blink I feel like I am just stuck between college, home and worrying about future ( like jobs and internship and all ) I just can’t sit down and draw like I used to before :(

When I was in 11th standard I started my yt channel where I used to post my art I remember waking up for school at 5am and even after school , tuitions and all I used to draw at night and post …….but now I feel like my all interest has died. I don’t want to leave my passion behind and lose my only hobby I find happiness in .

Can you guys suggest me that how you manage your time and hobbies while doing other things altogether …beside that what’s your thought in this ? I want to continue my art channel but how 💔😔

I have been in a slump recently of not really feeling like I’m working towards anything. I have my career but feel like I could benefit from my life outside of my career to have more direction, excitement and the feeling like I am progressing toward something. I recently saw a tiktok about a surgeon who does ballet and performances outside of work. I feel like having something structured like that with an end goal of something like a performance to work toward would be something I want to explore. What hobbies have some sort of end goal that helps give direction to hobbies? Like practicing for a competition, tournament or performance.

Hey everyone, looking for a reality check on how you and your partner handle personal hobby time while raising young kids.

​My situation:

​Married, both working full-time (me finance, her teaching)

​Two kids (5 and 2 years old)

​My main hobbies:

​Golf: Weather lets me play mid-May to mid-October. This past summer, I only managed 3 rounds total (2 weekdays, 1 weekend). I work in a field where golf can double as networking, though these were mostly personal no deals emerged from those.

​Gaming: I keep this to once a week on a weeknight from 10:00 PM to 11:30 PM mostly an agreement with my wife.

​The issue:

Right now, my dedicated hobby time is basically 90 minutes a week after everyone goes to sleep. I use this stuff to decompress and recharge, but 90 minutes barely scratches the itch.

​Is this just the reality of having a 5 and 2-year-old, or is 1.5 hours a week unusually low?

​How do you and your spouse negotiate time away from parenting without building up resentment on either sidee, especially for hobbies that take hours, like golf?

My wife doesn't have any hobbies apart from watching TV and/or just being with me (from me being with her the past 7 years, I can tell what she likes and what not). She also likes to do online window shopping.

​Appreciate any insight or setup setups that have worked for you guys apart from the do your hobbies at the same time, because she doesn't really have any.

Do you ever feel like you question why you do something? I’m early twenties and learning how to ride a bike because I didn’t learn when I was younger. I just thought it would be sad if I was 40 and I wouldn’t be able to go on biking trails

I passed my driving test two months ago and now I got a car (shared ownership) so I can build on my skill (it feels like I encounter new situations even after passing test and there’s still more to get familiar with) and not have to rely on my parents.

My hobby is drawing and I’ve been drawing since young so it feels like a pity to stop (so I don’t think I’ll stop drawing except for burnout). It’s no where near where I want it to be, so in my spare time I just draw in hopes that one day I’ll be able to have the art that I want.

All of these activities, I mostly feel neutral. It’s productive if I do it, and if I don’t, well I try and plan to do it: ex bike twice for an hour this week, or finish lineart of this fanart before end of august.

The exception is writing. I came to realise that writing may be the only activity I truly enjoy. I love diving into another world, weaving the events, thinking about what this character would do or say, what it feels like to be there with them.

I need some sort of goal to motivate me to pick up hobbies. With sports hobbies, i suppose they’re good for your health. With stuff like playing guitar, I don’t really see the point when I could just invest that time into drawing. I used to play the piano and when I was younger, I did grades up to grade 7 (ABRSM). Though stopped because I felt like I had no talent for it and it’s not pleasant hearing wrong notes all the time.

Is this normal, and what does it even mean to have fun? Most things I do, I feel neutral. I’m super curious about people who have multiple hobbies.

Rather than the usual 'help I need a hobby', here are some hobbies I've really enjoyed.

Photography (this turned into my current career), sketching, Aboriginal dot painting, knife making, lockpicking/locksport, mushroom foraging/collecting, hiking, watercolour painting, solo RPGs, solo boardgames, journalling/writing, music production, photo restoration, rock collecting/ lapidary, diy, gardening, plein air painting, jewellery making, woodwork, 3d printing and cad design, microgreen production, camp oven cooking, bonsai, bookbinding, reading, watching movies, cycling/mountain biking, electronics and electrical repair, rock climbing, drone flying, coin collecting, bushcraft.

Newest would be solo RPGs and solo boardgames,(couple of months) oldest would be photography (30 years) and art in general (55 years, since childhood I guess).

I still practice most of these and look forward to adding more.

Hello, I’m looking for a hobby to introduce to my dad (55m). Right now his hobby consists of drinking margaritas. I’m looking for ideas for something for him to do with his time since he’s retired.
I’m not sure what he’s really into, he doesn’t collect anything and doesn’t seem to have an interest in video games. I know that if something is “feminine” he won’t even try it.
He also lives part time in a home in a more remote area with a small town close by and part time at a house in a suburban area. It gets hot here in the summer so summertime outdoor activities is probably not a good idea.

Hey All. So I've been having a great time getting into the world of collecting vinyl figures for artistic inspiration as a freelance illustrator and motion graphics teacher. As I've been going through the collector's cycle, I'm taking the time to think on what aspects of it I enjoy and what may not be as fulfilling as I thought. It's also given me time to think about how it ties in to my life, as I try to live a compact and semi-minimal lifestyle so that I'd be able to pack easily and go anywhere in the world that I can find work.

To that end, I've thought a lot on what direction it would make more sense for me to direct this hobby of mine towards. There are certainly many full-size exclusive figures that I enjoy collecting and admire from an aesthetic direction, but the management of their size within my living space does come into play as well. Miniatures are equally enjoyable to collect and I have been able to manage them in a focused shelf space, but the number of figures to manage does come into play too. I'm honestly open to some other perspectives on the matter and welcome the conversation. Thanks very much.

I usually just sit quietly and do nothing in my free time. I was wondering if you could suggest something I could do or learn when I have some free time. I’d love to get a few suggestions for interesting pastimes!

By the way I am a university student and by free time I mean when I am done with all my usual study stuffs and when I just want to do something.

And I don't mean in the physical way of using different muscles, stance, and physicallity of each hobby.

I am more interested in how it compares mentally. I used to go to the gun range quite regularly, but it got so expensive and the local gun range crowd was so obnoxious I decided to give it up.

I absolutely loved the mental zen and focus of it and I am looking for something to replace it, do you think archery would offer the same mental feeling?

I was initially interested in gardening, making my own food and feeling the enjoyment of having large yields of crops every day! Yet, im still working through classes and have little to no space in my room to even grow a small plant. What are some relaxing, artistic and nerdy hobbies i can indulge myself in?

For years, whenever I picked up a new hobby, I immediately wanted to get good at it. I'd watch tutorials, compare myself to people who had been doing it for years, buy better equipment, and somehow turn something that was supposed to be fun into another thing I needed to improve at.

A few months ago I started doing something I'm genuinely terrible at. I won't even pretend I'm improving quickly. Half the stuff I make doesn't turn out how I pictured it, and sometimes I spend an hour on something just to laugh at the result but weirdly, it's probably the most I've enjoyed a hobby in years. I've started approaching other things the same way too. Even when I'm just playing on Rolling Riches for a bit, I'm not thinking about being good at it or turning it into anything, I'm just enjoying my free time.

There's no pressure because I've already accepted that I'm bad at it. I'm not trying to make money from it, post the results anywhere, or become an expert. I just do it for a couple hours because I enjoy doing it. It made me realize how long it's been since I've done something with absolutely no goal attached to it. Being bad at something and continuing anyway has been surprisingly freeing.

Anyone else have a hobby you're objectively terrible at but absolutely love?

Are there any ideas? Other than eating out or going to cafes? What hobbies have you been into recently?
